Nokia N8 : An Impressive Phone

Nokia has truly stepped up to the mark with their new Nokia N8 touchscreen phone, coming with, amongst other things, an exciting and innovative design. Stepping away from the customary black box typically seen with touchscreen phones, Nokia designed the N8 with a bit of ergonomic flair to stand out next to its counterparts – in addition to voiding the black color option (though a dark gray version is available). More impressively, Nokia has finally delivered a phone with a 12 megapixel camera and coupled it with the all new Symbian^3 operating system.

When looking at the Nokia N8, you will first notice the OLED touchscreen display, featuring a 360×640 resolution that is 3.5″ in size. While you might not find the 800 pixel wide screens that some competitors use, it is a fantastic budget option for those who want an HTC Desire but cannot afford such an expensive phone for their needs. This will do all those other phones can do, but for a much smaller price.

Nokia was not sparing in features for its 12 megapixel camera. The N8′s large sensor and high quality optics compare with features seen on compact digital cameras – features that are actually more crucial to the quality of the image output than the megapixel count itself. The Carl Zeiss lens equipped on the N8 will help capture amazing HD 720p video and the Xenon flash found on the back will ensure well lit images on the go.

You can even play various types of media on this phone. With the help of the Nokia N8, you can watch MPEG4 video, as well as Flash and Real video, and listen to WMA, AAC and MP3 music files, letting you have music on the go. The FM transmitter on the phone allows you to play your audio files through an FM radio completely wirelessly.

The 16 gigabytes of internal memory is more than enough for the vast majority of users of this phone, but you can enhance it with microSD cards in the integrated slot, so you can add as much as 32 gigabytes of hard drive space if you need to capture a lot of high definition video. You can get 3.5G support along all of the UMTS bands, and have 10.2 Mbps HSDPA download speeds. With the N8, you can even enjoy wifi at 802.11b,g, and n bands, allowing you to experience unprecedented wireless support.

Nokia delivers more than just impressive hardware on the new N8. The newly unveiled Symbian^3 operating system delivers a notable array of software options with a high level of customizable features. The Symbian^3 provides the user with multiple homescreens, 2D and 3D graphics acceleration, multi-touch support, pinch-to-zoom capability, and kinetic scrolling.
